Identification

  • The impulse to form and maintain an identity.
  • A contraction of the I that involves a corresponding contraction of consciousness.
  • Any type of attachment can lead to identification.
  • Any type of belief can lead to identification.
  • Attachment to a self-concept.
  • Belief in a self-concept.
  • Belief in being a form.
  • Belief in being other than THE SUPREME.
  • Fixation upon anything to such an extent that the one fixated experiences being that on which they are fixated.
  • Fixation upon a specific form to such an extent that the form defines and limits the one who is fixated.
  • Fixation upon a specific opinion, perspective, or point of view to such an extent that the opinion, perspective, or point of view defines and limits the one who is thus fixated.
  • Suppression of awareness to maintain focus on a portion of the I.
  • Sustained focus on a portion of the I.
  • Identification leads to forgetfulness of THE SUPREME.
  • Identification leads to forgetfulness of being THE SUPREME.
  • Identification gives rise to and sustains the appearance of separation.
