General notes:
- Root Meanings is a work in progress that will continue to emerge and evolve. All entries are subject to evolution.
- The entries in Root Meanings have been sourced and refined until they calibrate all the way for truth. Older entries may need to be updated for this to be the case.
- The primary criterion for inclusion in Root Meanings is calibration for truth. These entries are not intended to be consistent with any pre-existing spiritual teachings or traditions. The entries in Root Meanings may differ from or go beyond widely accepted teachings. Moreover, some of what has been sourced may be novel.
- Many excellent and useful definitions are not yet included. If you would like to make a suggestion, you may do so here.
- If you find Root Meanings to be helpful, please considering sponsoring this work or making a donation. Your support helps to ensure that the definitions will continue to be refined and offered free of charge to the world.
- The intention is to distribute Root Meanings under a suitable Creative Commons license before the end of the decade. In the meantime, unless otherwise noted, all works in progress and the final work are copyright Jeff Vander Clute.

Ascension
- A process of evolving beyond layers of density, form, and substance.
- A process of releasing confusion.
- A process of releasing delusion.
- A process of releasing identification.
- A process of releasing limiting beliefs and concepts.
- A process of transcending apparent separation.
- A process of transcending apparently finite manifestation.
- Ascension commonly refers to one’s embodiment becoming less dense and more transparent.
- Ascension is typically experienced as a sense of increasing lightness and freedom, and as a sense of the body being more nimble and less dense.
- Ascension follows from becoming profoundly awake.
- Ascension follows from releasing clutter and density.
- Ascension follows from releasing identification with limitation.
- As all is one, when one ascends, all ascend.
- The primary catalyst for ascension is relinquishing the belief in separation from Divinity/God/Source.
- Ascension is accelerated by one-pointed focus on releasing all separative tendencies and on realizing sourceness.
- Ascension is hindered by attachment to or desire for ascension.
- Ascension is hindered by ideas of ascension looking or feeling a certain way.
- There are levels of ascension, from becoming clearer and lighter, to transcending beliefs and experiences of separation, to transcending form, to fully remembering being THE SUPREME.
- In apex awakeness, it is obvious that there can be no descent into unawakeness and that, equally, there can be no ascension from unawakeness.
