  • A description of events.
  • A collection of meaningful elements that weave together to form a more or less coherent understanding of a situation or experience.
  • An interpretation of events or experiences.
  • To the extent that a story is believed, it forms a frame for one’s existence. At that point there is a tendency to accept as real or valid ideas and experiences that fit the story, and there is a tendency to reject as unreal or invalid anything that does not conform to the story.
  • Stories can be limiting, and they can also be liberating.
  • A limiting story reinforces the framework of belief systems and discourages exploring outside the story.
  • A liberating story supports one in expanding beyond the framework of their beliefs.
  • The personality is a story.
  • The world is a story.
  • Reality is not a story. Reality cannot be contained or conveyed by any story. Reality is beyond all stories.
  • The Truth is not a story. The Truth cannot be contained or conveyed by any story. The Truth is beyond all stories.

  • “When there is no story there is the clear presence of the Divine.”
