- The entries in Root Meanings have been sourced and refined until they calibrate all the way for truth. Older entries may need to be updated for this to be the case.
- The primary criterion for inclusion in Root Meanings is calibration for truth. These entries are not intended to be consistent with any pre-existing spiritual teachings or traditions. The entries in Root Meanings may differ from or go beyond widely accepted teachings. Moreover, some of what has been sourced may be novel.

Entity (as in a dark being, force, or energy)
- A pattern of collective unconsciousness that seems to take on a life of its own.
- A pattern of collective unconsciousness that may exert an influence on the behavior of one or more individuals, often in disruptive or harmful ways that are inconsistent with the individual personality or personalities involved.
- Until halfway up the Ladder of Awakening, an entity may seem to be a negative being, force, or energy that attacks one from outside or takes one over.
- In extreme cases, an entity may be experienced as demonic possession.
- All patterns of collective unconsciousness are operative within the one Mind, and are therefore latent or expressed, to varying degrees, within everyone.
- The patterns of collective unconsciousness that are labeled as entities tend to surface or become activated when one is in a state of fear.
- One is more available to entities to the extent that one is susceptible to collective unconsciousness.
- The “dark” tendencies within collective unconsciousness are seeking resolution.
- The “dark” tendencies within collective unconsciousness that are suppressed will find expression through individuals that are more susceptible.
- In general, people are susceptible to entities where they are in fear, especially fear that is unacknowledged.
- One who has attained fearlessness is not susceptible to entities, though such patterns of unconsciousness will continue to operate in the shared Mind until there is no unconsciousness anywhere in the Mind of all minds.
- Entities may seem to be external beings, forces, or energies until about two thirds of the way up the Ladder of Awakening.
