A sudden downpour at sunset photographed
from the restaurant at Shiva Yog Sthal
As the sun sinks behind the hills,
the sky bursts open to unleash
billions of points of brilliance
that say, “I see who you are.
You are the light of the world.
You are the radiant perfection.
You turn Earth directly into gold,
into the pure transceiver of Spirit,
with the luminosity of your heart.”
Sometimes we require fierce clouds,
thunderous rain, and heavenly flares
to perceive our true, exquisite nature.
Sometimes only a smile, a kiss, a song.
Whatever ignites you and reminds you,
whatever lifts you into awe and delight,
is proof that you are seen and revered
by the cosmic forces of THE SUPREME.
You are a bright embodiment of God.
You are my avatar of enlightenment.
You are a dancing and dazzling flame.
With a touch, you burn falseness away,
leaving no ashes, only raw and real love.
As we commune in darshan I am satiated.
As we join our lives together I am sustained.
Bare upon the altar at the ending of each day,
you are the living goddess to whom I prostrate.
This poem is part of a collection titled The Longing of God for God.
