Celestial Aarti

So many bells are chiming!
The sounds of aarti carry
on the evening breeze
clear across Bhagsu
and into my heart.
glows before me,
lives in my mind,
and bright tones
of remembrance
bring deep peace
to my singing soul.
This body is ringing
with sacred purpose
and sensual devotion
to the manifest Divine,
the prancing of energy,
Prakriti playing at night.

As darkening dusk fades
into the lucid silver light
of a late-autumn moon,
I watch as the Goddess
dances up to the ridge,
leaps atop mountains,
blows a kiss to the sky,
and flirts with the stars
shining on Dharamshala.
Now she is at my window.
She takes my hand in hers
and at once I am in heaven.
I am in full thrall as we waltz
our way through Zodiac signs
to the limits of space and time
and into this celestial embrace
whereby all distance is erased
and we can meet face to face.

This poem is part of a collection titled The Longing of God for God.
