Table of Contents for Root Meanings

General notes:

  • Root Meanings is a work in progress that will continue to emerge and evolve. All entries are subject to evolution.
  • The entries in Root Meanings have been sourced and refined until they calibrate all the way for truth. Older entries may need to be updated for this to be the case.
  • The primary criterion for inclusion in Root Meanings is calibration for truth. These entries are not intended to be consistent with any pre-existing spiritual teachings or traditions. The entries in Root Meanings may differ from or go beyond widely accepted teachings. Moreover, some of what has been sourced may be novel.
  • Many excellent and useful definitions are not yet included. If you would like to make a suggestion, you may do so here.
  • If you find Root Meanings to be helpful, please considering sponsoring this work or making a donation. Your support helps to ensure that the definitions will continue to be refined and offered free of charge to the world.
  • The intention is to distribute Root Meanings under a suitable Creative Commons license before the end of the decade. In the meantime, unless otherwise noted, all works in progress and the final work are copyright Jeff Vander Clute.

Free will

  • Will of the self structure.
  • The capacity of the self structure to act out of alignment with life as well as in alignment with life.
  • The capacity of the self structure to act out of alignment with the Whole as well as in alignment with the Whole.
  • When free will is wielded in alignment, there is the experience of ease and joy.
  • When free will is wielded out of alignment, there is the experience of struggle and suffering.
  • Free will is not fully free since it operates in the context of unconscious conditioning. The fully free will is the will of THE SUPREME, which is beyond and prior to what is referred to as “free will.” (Free will is therefore a misnomer.)
  • To the extent that one is awake, free will is a play of the Divine.
  • To the extent that one is not awake, free will is an illusion of freedom.

Sayings:

  • “Free will is not fully free.”
