General notes:
- Root Meanings is a work in progress that will continue to emerge and evolve. All entries are subject to evolution.
- The entries in Root Meanings have been sourced and refined until they calibrate all the way for truth. Older entries may need to be updated for this to be the case.
- The primary criterion for inclusion in Root Meanings is calibration for truth. These entries are not intended to be consistent with any pre-existing spiritual teachings or traditions. The entries in Root Meanings may differ from or go beyond widely accepted teachings. Moreover, some of what has been sourced may be novel.
- Many excellent and useful definitions are not yet included. If you would like to make a suggestion, you may do so here.
- If you find Root Meanings to be helpful, please considering sponsoring this work or making a donation. Your support helps to ensure that the definitions will continue to be refined and offered free of charge to the world.
- The intention is to distribute Root Meanings under a suitable Creative Commons license before the end of the decade. In the meantime, unless otherwise noted, all works in progress and the final work are copyright Jeff Vander Clute.

- Trust that all is unfolding as it must for the optimal benefit of all.
- Trust that all is well, even when appearances suggest otherwise.
- Trust that life leads inexorably to the realization of the omnipresence of Love.
- The “leap of faith” is the shift from not trusting life and relying too much on the seemingly separate self to trusting life and relying on higher orders of agency and being to provide what is required. This includes suggestions for how the small and seeming separate self can harmonize with so-called others and move in alignment with the Whole.
1 Importantly, “that support one in awakening to reality” is a high bar that much of organized religion does not meet. Dogmatic belief is not awakeness. To be fully awake, all belief systems must be released.
2 Here “Divinity/God/Source” refers to the benevolent One that is known directly by the mystics who have traveled beyond the limitations of religion.
