General notes:
- Root Meanings is a work in progress that will continue to emerge and evolve. All entries are subject to evolution.
- The entries in Root Meanings have been sourced and refined until they calibrate all the way for truth. Older entries may need to be updated for this to be the case.
- The primary criterion for inclusion in Root Meanings is calibration for truth. These entries are not intended to be consistent with any pre-existing spiritual teachings or traditions. The entries in Root Meanings may differ from or go beyond widely accepted teachings. Moreover, some of what has been sourced may be novel.
- Many excellent and useful definitions are not yet included. If you would like to make a suggestion, you may do so here.
- If you find Root Meanings to be helpful, please considering sponsoring this work or making a donation. Your support helps to ensure that the definitions will continue to be refined and offered free of charge to the world.
- The intention is to distribute Root Meanings under a suitable Creative Commons license before the end of the decade. In the meantime, unless otherwise noted, all works in progress and the final work are copyright Jeff Vander Clute.

Nondoing
- The absence of efforting.
- The absence of doing by the small self that thinks it is the doer.
- “Nondoing doing” is effortless accomplishment.
- In nondoing doing, the small self does nothing. All is done by the one Self, the real Doer, at a higher order of being.
- All doing that seems to occur in time is a process of coming into congruence with what already is eternally.
- On the journey of awakening to reality and truth, there is a recognition that nothing really needs to be done because all that is true is already done. Using the Ladder of Awakening as a metaphor, this recognition comes just before the tenth rung.
